APS Energia is expanding its Traction and Transport Division and opening an R&D office in Bydgoszcz. The engineering team will design new solutions for trams, metro cars, electric multiple units, locomotives and wagons.

„We are focusing on developing one of our strategic business directions, and strengthening the R&D team with more experienced engineers is a step in achieving this goal. Building a competence centre will allow us to develop the high-tech equipment that the traction and transport market at home and abroad is waiting for.

Since the beginning of our activity in this industry, more than 10 years ago, we have focused on quality and reliability and the same motto guides us today, which is appreciated by our business partners. However, this would not be possible without qualified staff, which is why we have been investing in the best engineers from the very beginning” – said CEO Piotr Szewczyk.

The director of the R&D branch in Bydgoszcz is Marcin Urbański, an engineer with many years of experience in the design, modernisation and construction of rail vehicles.

The Research and Development Office will carry out development work related to the design of on-board power systems, battery chargers, rail vehicle electric drives. In particular, the team will focus on inverters and traction inverters, low- and high-voltage cabinets and switchgear, control panels and the development of control and diagnostic software. The team will also be tasked with creating technical documentation.

The office has been operating since 2 January.
