APS Energia together with Warsaw University of Technology will receive nearly PLN 29 million in funding
The company’s unique project to develop a configurable, remotely controllable and cyber-secure electricity storage and packaging system has received a positive decision and recommendation for funding from the National Research and Development Center (NCBiR). It will enable APS Energia to develop a completely new range of products together with the Warsaw University of Technology.
APS Energia’s project called APStorage 2.0. A modular – configurable, remotely controllable and cyber-secure, electricity storage and conditioning system will be implemented under the New Technologies in Energy program. The program was prepared by the National Research and Development Center to support the achievement of Poland’s climate neutrality.
The APS Energia project was among an elite group of six qualified for the program by the NCBiR. Co-authors of the others include PGNiG, Lotos and Polenergia. APS Energia will implement its project together with the Warsaw University of Technology – the listed company is the leader of this consortium.
– We have settled the competition, in which APS Energia’s project was recommended for funding in the amount of PLN 28.98 million. An agreement should be signed in the near future. The entire project is worth more than PLN 43 million, which means that our own funds will account for less than PLN 15 million and will be spent within 3-4 years. This amount will allow us to develop and implement for production systems for storing and packaging of electricity, which have not existed on the market so far and are unique in terms of functionality, which will be included in our offer,” says Piotr Szewczyk, CEO of APS Energia.
At the same time, the company’s management is analyzing the construction of a new production plant, where the new devices would be created.
– The company has made a preliminary decision to build a second plant to manufacture energy storage and electric vehicle charging systems. The new plant would be built on our plot of land in Stanislawow Pierwszy. We estimate the cost of construction at around PLN 30 million. We are currently considering various sources of financing. We would like to start construction next year and complete the investment in spring 2024,” adds Piotr Szewczyk.
APS Energia has had a successful 2021. The Group’s revenues increased by 33 percent year-on-year to PLN 113.3 million. EBITDA approached PLN 14.2 million compared to PLN 0.7 million in 2020, and EBIT reached PLN 11 million compared to the PLN 2.6 million loss recorded a year earlier. Net profit amounted to PLN 9.3 million (PLN -5.4 million net loss in 2020). At the same time, the fourth quarter of 2021 turned out to be record-breaking in terms of results, with PLN 56.9 million in revenue and PLN 12.6 million in net profit.
