On 17th May 2019 took place the first meeting of the University Council, hosting authorities of Warsaw University of Technology. Prof. Jan Szmidt, PhD. Eng. Rector of Warsaw University of Technology, handed nominative acts to its members. Members of the University Council outside the University included Piotr Szewczyk, President of the Board and one of the founders of APS Energia – an international manufacturer of guaranteed power supply systems and power electronics devices.

The University Council comprises of four members representing the Warsaw University of Technology community and four people from outside the university.

• Dominika Bettman – President of the Management Board of Siemens Sp.z o.o.
• Krzysztof Kurowski – Director of Strategic Projects at R&D Polpharma SA
• Krzysztof Pietraszkiewicz – President of the Polish Bank Association
• Piotr Szewczyk, PhD. Eng. – President of the Management Board of APS Energia SA

Members representing the University Council:
• Radosław Koszewski, PhD. Eng., prof. university
• Karol J. Kowalski, PhD. Eng., prof. university
• Roman Szewczyk, PhD. Eng., prof. university
• Prof. Wojciech Wróblewski, PhD. Eng.

 

The term of office of the first University Council will last until 31th December, 2020.

 

In accordance with the Act of 20 July 2018, the Law on Higher Education and Science, the University Council is the third most important university body alongside the Rector and Senate. Her tasks will include giving opinions on both the university’s strategy project and the draft statute, as well as monitoring financial management and university management.

 

Membership in the University Council of the Warsaw University of Technology is not the only distinction of Piotr Szewczyk by the University. In November 2017, the President of the Management Board of APS Energia was honored with an entry to the “Golden Book” of the Warsaw University of Technology for special professional and social achievements. The entry in the “Golden Book” of the WUT Graduates is a special distinction for people who can boast of outstanding achievements who have contributed to the reputation of the graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology.
